Building a Mystery

€80.00

This pendant is named "Building a Mystery" (credit: Sarah McLachlan) because the stone is just that: a mystery! I simply do not know what this gemstone is. I have consulted with crystal experts, gem enthusiasts, and a geologist, and have received different guesses from each, with no definitive identification. The stone itself is absolutely gorgeous, with earthy browns and perhaps a hit of yellow or pink depending on the light. My best guess is that it's a variety of moss agate or cryptocrystalline quartz.

This mystery specimen has been carefully set in antiqued hammered copper wire, featuring the iconic triquetra symbol, with a green India agate bead at its center. The triquetra is an ancient Celtic symbol, just one of many Celtic knots. Through the ages and various cultures, it has been used to represent many things, including the triple goddess, body-mind-spirit, and interconnectedness.

You come out at night
That's when the energy comes
And the dark side's light
And the vampires roam

-Sarah McLachlan, Building a Mystery

This substantial pear-shaped pendant measures approximately 2.5 inches tall and 1.5 inches wide. The pendant hangs from a copper alloy chain that is 20-inches long at its longest point, adjustable smaller to any link. The chain is further embellished with green India agate beads. Suspended from the chain is another India agate bead that cascades dramatically down the back of the neck when worn.

This piece is wrapped in bare copper wire, then carefully antiqued by hand and polished to bring out the organic highlights and lowlights of the beautiful metal.
